Manuel Solis
For Manuel Solis, a career at Wellbore Integrity Solutions (WIS) has been built on solving complex challenges, leading teams, and delivering results. As RED BARON Director, Manny works closely with sales, operations, and technical teams to support the growth of the business while helping customers overcome some of their most demanding operational challenges.
With more than five years at WIS and 17 years of legacy Smith experience, Manny brings a deep understanding of the industry and a passion for continuous improvement. Throughout his career, he has held field, engineering, and leadership roles across multiple product lines, experiences that have helped shape his approach to leadership and problem-solving.
One of the things Manny enjoys most about his role is the variety it offers. Whether he is working with customers, supporting operations, or collaborating with technical teams, every day brings a new challenge and an opportunity to make an impact.
“At WIS, no two days or weeks look the same, and that is what I enjoy the most.”
Although he earned a degree in Mechanical Engineering and originally envisioned a career in manufacturing and design, Manny’s path led him into the oil and gas industry early on. Since then, his career has included field, engineering, and leadership roles across multiple product lines, experiences that gave him a strong operational foundation and continue to influence the way he leads today.
Reflecting on his growth since joining WIS, Manny credits the relationships he has built with customers and colleagues, as well as his willingness to embrace challenges and support others along the way. He believes meaningful growth comes from earning trust, solving problems, and working together to achieve results.
When asked what first attracted him to WIS, Manny’s answer is simple: the people. While the company’s technology and industry reputation were appealing, it was the team culture that made the strongest impression and continues to keep him engaged today.
“The people drew me in, and the team culture has kept me here. It feels like family.”
That sense of family is something Manny sees throughout the organization. He describes his team as one built on trust, open communication, and a shared commitment to safety, quality, and performance. He believes the collaborative culture at WIS is one of the company’s greatest strengths and one of the reasons employees are able to succeed together.
Manny is motivated by teamwork, competition, and achieving goals the right way. He takes pride in helping teams deliver strong results while maintaining a focus on safety and operational excellence. Throughout his career, he has been involved in several notable achievements, including the first open-hole whipstock project in Guyana, a major fishing application in Eastern Canada, and a geothermal whipstock project that succeeded where other vendors had been unsuccessful. Across each of these accomplishments, he credits the same factors: careful planning, strong teamwork, and disciplined execution.
For anyone considering a career with WIS, Manny believes the company’s culture is one of its biggest differentiators.
“You will feel welcomed from day one.”
He believes WIS offers a supportive environment where employees can grow professionally, build meaningful relationships, and be part of a team committed to achieving success together.
